Noah’s Drunkenness, Ham, and the Curse of Canaan: Mystery Solved? And Who was Noah’s Wife?

Many verses in the Bible are mysteries just waiting to be unraveled. The happenings after the flood harbor one of these grand mysteries: after disembarkation from the Ark, Noah planted a vineyard, and when grapes were produced, he made wine, got drunk, and passed out in his tent; then his son Ham walked in on him (Noah) and something happened that resulted in the birth of Canaan. The name “Canaan” means “humiliated” and is our first clue in solving this mystery. After the happenings in the tent, Noah cursed Canaan: He didn’t curse Ham nor did he curse himself, but he cursed Canaan, and at the root of this mystery is the question – why?

For us, at Genesis and Genetics, this event is important because it can help us in our quest to understand the genetic details of human migration. After merging our understanding of the genetics of sin nature and the early chapters of Genesis, we believe we now understand the mystery of Noah’s drunkenness, Ham’s actions, and Noah’s curse on Canaan. The key to unraveling the mystery is recognizing the identity of Noah’s wife. First, please allow us to state our theory, and then we will defend it:

wifeNThe sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair and took them as wives (Genesis 6:2), and Noah was one of these “sons of God” and the “daughter of man” that Noah took for a wife was named Naamah from the line of Cain. Then, after the flood, when Noah got drunk, Noah’s son, Ham, had sex with his mother, Naamah, who, as a result of this union, bore a son named Canaan. Noah knew how this would affect the balance of good and evil, and cursed the unborn child. After Babel, Noah and his wife split up due to the humiliation; she went with Canaan, and Noah went with Shem and his offspring.

There is much evidence to promote the above notion, and if true, it explains this grand mystery and helps us understand our roots.

First, we need to look at the genealogy of Noah and Naamah. Genesis chapter 4 gives us the genealogy of Cain which ends with a woman named Naamah. Genesis chapter 5 gives us the genealogy of Seth which ends with Noah.

Adam

Cain                   Seth

Naamah                Noah

We know that Noah was on the Ark, so, it only makes sense that Naamah was also on the Ark as Noah’s wife. If Naamah were not on the Ark, there would be no reason to document her family line since they would have perished in the flood. The Bible does not waste words and every verse is significant. In this case, Cain’s lineage is very significant in that he, Cain, contributed to our genetics significantly, on the order of half. Also, it should be noted that Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4), the genealogy of which were not documented: there was no need – they and their offspring perished in the flood.

We, at Genesis and Genetics, are convinced that Naamah was, indeed, Noah’s wife. Here is our reasoning:

(a)  She is the last one mentioned in the line of Cain before the flood.

(b)  Generally, in Biblical lineages, only the men are listed. In the case of Naamah, not only is she listed but also, her father and mother are included. This implies that she is a very important person in our family tree.

(c)  Some Jewish traditions cite Naamah as Noah’s wife  (Reference)

(d)  There was a town in Canaan conquered by Joshua named Naamah. Biblical towns are generally named after the men, but this one was named after a woman: Naamah.

Noah planted a vineyard and got drunk. Then, Ham, Noah’s son, committed some act that resulted in a curse placed on Canaan. These happenings have been heavily debated by theologians: some say Ham saw that Noah was naked; some say Ham committed a homosexual act with Noah, and some say it is and will remain an unsolved mystery, but there is another possibility that we have accepted. We have concluded that Ham went into the tent and had sex with his mother; this union produced Canaan. When Noah woke up, he cursed Canaan, Ham’s unborn son. Noah didn’t curse himself, nor did he curse Ham, but he cursed Canaan and gave him the name which means “humiliated.” This is the only scenario that makes sense and here are our reasons for promoting this view:

(a)  The term saw the “nakedness of his father” (Genesis 9:22) is the same term as used in the Levitical law when dealing with incest (e.g. Leviticus 20:11 “And the man that lieth with his father’s wife hath uncovered his father’s nakedness:” – KJV). This clearly means having sexual relations.

(b)  Noah knew that the result of this union would upset the balance between good and evil (1 John 3:12, Genesis 4:25).

The Biblical history of Noah ends when Noah curses Canaan (Genesis 9 25-29). However, we know that Noah lived 350 years after disembarkation from the Ark (Genesis 9:29). We are not sure how long Naamah lived after leaving the Ark, but assume she lived through the time of the scattering at Babel. Even though the scriptures don’t directly account for Noah’s and Naamah’s whereabouts, we can speculate that Noah was sufficiently humiliated so his relationship with Naamah cooled, possibly to the point of being estranged. Naamah, perhaps, was protective of her son Canaan and went with him after the Babel scattering and dwelt in the land of Canaan. Noah, on the other hand, perhaps, dwelt with his son Shem or someone in the Shem line. The supporting evidence for this is the account of Abraham and Job both of whom came from the line of Shem and had very deep spiritual understanding; this would be indicative of a close and extended connection with Noah.

So, how about those of us who have Canaanite genes? Unfortunately, we all have Canaanite genes. Since Canaan was born so early in the post-flood history, his DNA is thoroughly mixed into all of us. We all need redemption.

We are sure this blog will inspire diverse opinions and comments, and we welcome them.

  1. Biologically Adams blood stream was perfect life is in the blood. When the sons of God married the daughters of men the blood then became contaminated Cain’s line and Abel’s line
were mixed.John 1:13correctly translated is bloods…The blood in the human race was genetically modified and Noah was the last human with a pure blood line.I am still studying how the genetics were altered.

      1. I believe it’s because they were also covering a naked Naamah. Perhaps the brothers used the two-man rule in order to “do all things decently and in order.”

        1. I see your point, but you left out something that plays a very important role with the Leviticus 20:11. The ending of that verse speaks of how both parties in this sexual act of seeing your father’s nakedness but be put to death. The Leviticus writings didn’t even occur until hundreds of years later. Ham did not see his mother naked and or sleep with her. If so, then they both would have been put to death.

      2. That’s not what the 2nd century midrash says. It says Ham walked into the tent of drunk Noah sleeping with erection and Canaan (the oldest of all Ham’s sons, but the only child of Ham at the time, and so YOUNGEST of all Noah’s sons) had tied a string on Noah’s hard penis. LOL (Maybe someone told him a dick was a fishing pole). Ham thought this was funny, did not cover Noah, left Canaan in the tent, or just scurried the boy out. And laughed telling his brothers. Now if his brothers walked in backwards with a blanket, then i doubt they took the string off his penis so of course when Noah awakes he will know WTF happened, who did this.In this case even his brothers would have lessened the shame by untying it hoping Noah has no memeory of it at all.But apparently it was too shameful to untie it, so they just covered him and he awoke knowing there’s a string on my penis, who did this????

        1. She was Shem and Japeth’s stepmother. She was a descendant of Cain and her son fathered by Ham Canaan would become the grandfather of Nimrod who also married his own Mother Sierramas.

      3. This article is dancing between truth and lies. They didn’t cover Noah, they covered his wife who was a descendant of Cain who brought the genetics of the giants through the flood Ham had sex with her prior to that which brought on the birth of Canaan which is why Noah cursed Canaan. Also, Noah was not one of the “Sons of God” the Sons of God in Genesis ch 6 were the fallen angels. Leviticus 18:8 The nakedness of thy father’s wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father’s nakedness.

    1. I believe your theory went wrong with Adam and eve. Where the devil beguiled eve it meant he seduced her. If you look in Strongs concordance and translate beguiled it means sexual seduction. Have you ever wondered why God never liked Cain ? Cain went to another land and married a woman who was a daughter of son’s of men. There decedent’s were known as Caanites

  2. I have to say that your theory is completely off. You have taken the scriptures out of context. While I agree that “the nakedness of his father” can also speak of a man having intercourse with his father’s wife, IN CONTEXT, it says in Genesis 9:21, “…he drank of the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent.”

It had nothing to do with Ham having sex with his mother. On top of that, IN CONTEXT, Genesis 9:23 says, “But Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father’s nakedness.”

I can’t see why you are looking so deep in the scripture that you ignore the obvious. In Leviticus “nakedness” is a metaphor while in Genesis it is literal. Noah got drunk and took his clothes off. Ham saw his nakedness while Shem and Japheth took great steps not to. As a result Canaan was cursed.

    1. We respect all ideas, but would like to know why you think Canaan was cursed and not Ham? You said “as a result.” but you should tell us as a result of what?

      1. Quite likely Noah wanted his son Ham to know what it is like to have his own son be far from God in that he would ridicule his father, as Ham did to his brothers about his father.

      2. It is possible that Noah actually cursed Ham, and the curse went down to his generations. However, since Moses was the one telling the story, he would, of course, tell about canaanites because thats who the isrealites were dealing with at the time. Just like the bible gives the geaneology of the people important to the story being told, Moses told of the curse as it was relevant to them.

It IS also possible that Noah and his wife BOTH got drunk.

      3. As a result of ALL HUMANS in the ark of Noah being blessed by God Himself, Noah cursed Ham’s son – Canaan – rather than Ham himself. Noah was a prophet who knew spiritual principles: you cannot curse whom God has blessed. Ham was one of those whom God personally blessed when they came out from Noah’s ark after the flood. Only eight people came out from the ark, so Ham’s children, born after the flood, were not part of those directly blessed by God. Ham himself was, so Noah had no option than to divert the curse to a child of Ham rather than Ham himself. He chose Canaan, Ham’s last born, probably because he (Canaan) was Ham’s favorite, a common parental phenomenon.

    2. Remember the cultural mandate, “be fruitful and multiply.” Wine takes away inhibition. Maybe elderly Noah was feeling amorous but then passed out.

    3. Jason, to take this passage strictly literal makes no biblical sense. There is no sin in seeing your father naked and God does not impose the sins of fathers on their children.

      1. Yes he does. All of the first born were killed in Egypt, including the Pharoh’s son because Pharoh would not let the Isrealites leave Egypt.

      2. Really? Then how come I have pain in child birth? I didn’t eat the apple but eve did. That was Gods punishment so that should be a good example of children being punished for their parents sins

        1. It wasn’t apple. Eve was beguiled by Satan (had sex) Cain was result. Story of Jesus & Mary. Angel told Joseph thst she didn’t cheat & thst she was impregnated by Holy Spirit. God was ultimately teaching Satan. He will not defeat God.

      3. If we do not inherit the sins of our fathers, then we are all free of the original sin, I guess…huh….David???

    4. Do not interpret the story literally. There is enough verses to proof author theory. He puts it a very simple way. I know much better explanation. But the idea is correct. Thanks

  3. You may not believe this, but the Quran mentions something might be of great use to you guys. I am Muslim and I appreciate your research, the Quran mentions that Noah’s wife. The only book on this earth that regards Noah’s wife as not good person is the Quran, in fact Allah promises a great punishment for her and Lut’s wife:

“God sets forth an example to those who disbelieve: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot, they were both under two of Our righteous servants, but they acted treacherously towards them so they availed them naught against God, and it was said: Enter both the fire with those who enter.” — Qur’an, Sura 66 (At-Tahrim)

There are some other verses of the Quran that supports the research. I don’t want to spoil it here for I don’t know if its respectful for you guys or not.

    But anyway, thank you

    1. Hi Abdul,

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I want to say that I really appreciate your commentary here. I think that when we get to “the other side” we will all realize that we were following the same God. It’s the same source of truth. Humans are fallible and we don’t handle God’s word with the care that we should, so things get lost or corrupted. We should all do our best to follow God as he is revealed to us, and not get too bent out of shape about how others do. If God is loving and merciful, and we honestly do our best to follow him, it will all work out in the end, I believe. I have no problem believing that there is truth from God in the Quran, and I don’t think that contradicts the idea that there is truth from God in the Bible.

I appreciate that you, a fellow traveler on this earth, are also seeking truth wherever you may find it, whether it comes from your own religious tradition or not. In the end, I believe, we will all see that God is powerful to save his children, and that we come under the umbrella of that saving by our best efforts to live a loving and generous life. So I’m hoping to see you and all of us up there together :).

Again, thanks for sharing, it’s fascinating that what humans might perceive as two completely divergent lines of religious thinking have converged here.

      1. If the Islamic god was the same as our God they would know that only through Christ are we saved. No other way. You have to admit he was the son of God.
Islam teaches Jesus was a great prophet, but to believe in the trinity is blasphemous. The very believe is required to be saved.
I believe Muhammed was just another anti-christs the bible speaks of. Any man or being that denies Jesus’ divinity is a false G

        1. “Is Jesus the only way to Heaven?” Answer: Absolutely NOT! It is only in your so called “bible”, that is, a N.T., one can find teachings of such idolatry. The Holy Bible, that is, the Hebrew Bible, not mentioned Jesus or its blasphemous teachings. Your claim that Jesus is almighty god who created the Universe, everlasting father, divine messiah, equal member of the trinity, and so on, contradict not only the Hebrew Bible, but even the N.T. “But of that day and that hour know no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the son, but the Father” (Mark 13:32). Jesus claims there is something that he does not know, but that only the Father knows. So how can Jesus, “the son,” also be “the Father,” if their knowledge is not the same? “Why do you call me good? No one is good but One, that is, God” (Mark 10:18; Luke 18:19). If Jesus was God, why did He say “No one is good but God?” Note, in all instances, it is Jesus speaking! He clearly separates himself of being God. Another false claim: “We are saved from hell by God’s grace alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). Really? I suggest that you should study your “Bible” more thoroughly and truthfully. Man does not need Jesus’ forgiveness to eradicate sin, because God gave us a power to overcome sin on our own (Genesis 4:7) and be as close to God as he or she wishes. Please read these passages:
“If you want to inter into life, keep the commandments” (Matthew 19:17). “If you love me, keep my Commandments.” I repeat it again — this is Jesus speaking! The Holy Bible speaks of the same. “You shall keep My commandments, and do them; I am the Lord” (Leviticus 22:31). Here goes “By faith alone…” Thanks

      2. msouth….what about the King of Kings and Lord of Lords….Jesus Christ…it is only through Christ that we will enter into heaven, or the other side, as you call it…unless your other side is something different than what the Bible refers to as Heaven…Too many make trusting in the Messiah something complicated…when it is a simple step to everlasting life in which the Holy Spirit bears witness too…Do not forget Christ the Messiah…who will reign as King…forever….

    2. My dad was murdered. His dad was Amon Carter. I think Ammonite. Descendant of Ishmael and David. Also Jews in Israel are Edomites and not true Jews. True Jews are related to Muslims through Abraham.

  4. In fact in one of the verses when Noah prays to God saying that his son who didn’t come with them on the Ship was his family, God responded he is not your family!!!

Your research and the verse of the Quran did really shock me! the closest interpretation to the Quranic verse is your research!

  5. Glory be to God, it’s said that Elders should not die, so that children would eat Vulture and call it chicken. Mr. Jason is a Bible scholar, I commend your insight into the word. Deu. 4:2, and Deu 22: 19 admonishes that we should add or remove from God’s commandments. In the mouth of two or three witnesses a truth is established, one the Bible verse is not enough to to accept the hypothesis, even some arguments in the research do not have biblical backing baseless history. May the Holy Spirit interpret that Noah’s bible story.

    1. Naamah must have been Noah’s second wife, not the mother of his sons. For the timeline, Noah planted a vineyard and drank wine at the fruition of time. On the day in view he awoke from his wine, knew what Ham had done to him, and then cursed Canaan at the fruition of time. It was the sin of Canaan’s parents that angered Noah. An arbitrary curse on a son of Ham would inflict unjust suffering on Ham’s wife but she is untouched by Noah’s oracle because Ham’s wife is not the mother of Canaan. Instead the curse was borne by the illicit household set up by Ham as is seen later in the plight of the Canaanites. If Noah hadn’t been betrayed by his new wife, Ham’s son, Canaan, would have been Noah’s precious little grandson.
It wasn’t rape, or maternal incest, because of Shem and Japheth’s tame response to the incident.

      1. leviticus 18:7 To uncover your.
fathers nakedness is to have sex with his wife
Ham had sex with his mother ,consequently she got pregnant with Canaan which makes Canaan a bastard and accursed. Noah didn’t curse anyone. It was a prophecy

why is it that everyone tries so hard to change what is written. It is what it is.

        1. Mary, unfortunately it is in human nature that many want to change the Word…that way, they can construct beliefs the way they choose too…that is why it is so important, in prayer, to seek guidance through the Holy Spirit…But all these details as to who is whose and what actually really happened is not what will get us where we want to be when all is done…Only the acceptance of Christ as the Messiah will do that…Scientist continue to use the Bible as a true record in history to place their theories into being..this should say alot to the secular world…It is the best read on the planet…

    2. Very true. The Bible has different interpretations for each verse. Holy Spirit guides you when I was a child I knew everyone’s name and every sin they committed. Then at 6 I was molested and beaten by satanists that baptized me in Satan I guess. Then the head trauma started. Then I was drugged. I have always seen the future. I had a dream a week before my grandsons murder. I looked at photo where I was holding him and I was holding a balloon. A few days before I lost him. He cried and hugged me and called me da da. It was a picture of God,on the balloon. Also I was arrested(corrupt Huntsville city). I was shot at. About a foot away. I looked back and I can swear I saw a silver flash knock the bullet down. An Angel maybe? I died when I was 5 for 40 minutes. Was pronounced dead. Was above watching doctors in Fort Worth Te as. ( I had 450 yellow jacket stings & doubled in size). Then I came back to my body and started vomiting I guess charcoal and poison. I was a brilliant energy light. That’s what I think God is. Power and energy light. Thst he is in all of us and he is everything. If we live a godly life and have a sincere good heart, that we are again part of the powerful energy source of God.

      1. Apparently Amon Carter was A Duke. Not Louisiana duke but One that started American tobacco,Broadcasting etc. my dna says Sinclair and his wife Hedy Lamarr. Not German. Adopted by President Wilson brother. Supposed to be taking to Salt Lake City. She was Scottish Davidson. Story of some bloodline that Sinclair’s brought to America. Supposedly related to Mary,Queen of Scott’s. She used name Littlepage, because that name in our courthouse who helped forge my signature in my dads will. She really saw the future. She had my dad buy Tandy Leather company stock. He was something like 51% of it. Well it owned Texas Instruments and possibly patent on Tandy computers. Smartest man I’ve ever known but he was drugged with iron as I have. He had alpha A1 deficiency. Meaning his mom and dad shared a common relative. Very close. Well he was murdered. So was his mother and father. We keep getting arrested and evidence forged. I had held my hand on car and prayed in Gods name got it to be healed. It was 100% healed the next day. I was giving my grandson CPR and my stepson knocked me away. I was loosing it. I’d gladly died for him. I just wonder. Satan is everywhere.

  6. Noah was Perfect in His Generations. So something was obviously not Perfect. 1 John 3:12 Not like Cain who was from The Evil One [Aramaic Bible} I believe Noah had triplets at the age of 500 years old, Shem Japheth Ham. Who so ever was Noahs wife she was not Perfect, but in Gen 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh, so if Noahs wife is of Cain or not she was made Perfect through Noah. Therefore something must have happened between Canaan and the woman who bore His seed. For a curse was placed upon Canaan for some act he did. Gen. 9:25. I believe terminology plays the most important part of this mystery. Gen 9:24 youngest son, or small son refers to Grandson, the very fact that a vineyard was planted and He got drunk on the grapes takes some years to develop meanwhile Ham having a wife must of had plenty of time for sex and had a son their first born Canaan. Now the most important Gen 9:22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father’s nakedness, and he told his two brothers outside. HAM WAS NOT CURSED. He came in while His son Canaan was having sex with Noahs wife and Noah was a sleep. Lev. 18:8 The nakedness of thy father’s wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father’s nakedness. Saw, Ham saw, He saw something he saw His fathers Nakeness which incest according to Lev 18:8 he then told his brothers, they not Ham put a covering over Canaan and Noahs wife. Gen 9:23 And Shem and Japheth took the garment, and they placed [it] on both of their shoulders, and they walked backwards, and they covered their father’s nakedness. fathers nakeness is the woman His wife, and the incest of Ham first born Canaan. And then Noah awoke after this disturbance and saw what was done to him. the shame. Gen 9:24.

    1. Paul D,

Thank you for your very interesting comment. You may be right. It all depends on the meaning of “youngest son” in the original Hebrew. We will continue to pursue this question. Again, thank you for your comment and interest in the scriptures. Keep up the good work.

      1. I believe Noah’s wife and Ham,Shem & Japheth’s mother died. Noah remarried to Naamah(the last descendant of Cain). So Noah, his kids and their wives were descendants of Seth. Naamah was made worthy by Noah. Maybe Ham’s wife died and he slept with his stepmother,to spread his seed or he knew that she would bring evil into the world,if she had a child with Noah. So he slept with her to open Noah’s eyes to his mistake on taking her to the Ark. he could have been tricked by a Satan. We can only speculate

    2. I like this possible theory as another option to the one above, the only thing is that Canaan was the 4th Son of Ham (Genesis 10:6)

  7. This is why continuing research will help one gain wisdom with an open mind led by the holy spirit.

    N Dne

  8. The clues are in the text. “ cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be to his BRETHREN”. Not his uncles.

  9. You say it was the “good guys” procreating w “bad women” created the “sin gene” which would be the damnation of humanity somehow. None of this makes sense as Noah’s wife is a daughter of Cain. Why would God pick a righteous man & allow him to marry a “sinful daughter of Cain”? Isn’t that the sin you say caused the flood?

    1. The reason for the flood was widespread sin and wickedness, and according to the Bible, Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Therefore, if you use simple logic, any woman Noah picked would have been, as you say, a “bad woman.” Without a woman, Noah could not have had children and we wouldn’t be here. He was stuck.

  10. God, please have mercy on us. The mystery or may I say I wonder how God kept quite in all these drama within Noah’s family. The question is, can it be accurately said that father Noah is the main cause of all this brouhaha? If He (NOAH) didn’t get drunk perhaps there won’t be any reason to curse anyone. Another lesson here is for us to be carefully careful with getting drunk better still abstain completely because it may lead people to unwanted territory. Lesson learnt! May God help us all.

  11. No, we do not all have Cain’s genes. Cain was satan’s boy, 1 John 3:12, not Adams. If you have even one drop of Cain’s satanic blood you are already condemned, PERIOD!
This is WHY God’s law says REMOVE all MIXED ancestry people…

    1. I am not sure where you get the idea about being condemned by one drop of Cain’s blood. It is our opinion that half of the DNA on the Ark was from Cain, but we are not sure. Also, it would be hard to imagine that none of Cain’s offspring had children with Seth’s offspring since they coexisted for more than 1500 years. Another point is that God flooded the world because of the evil in the world. This evil was not just Cain and his offspring, but it was everyone except Noah.

But on the other hand you may be right. We respect all opinions and are happy that you share them with us.

      1. Naamah redemption is the proof that not all the seed of Cain perished in the Flood. Believe it or not, we are the descendants of this woman whose name was mysteriously honored in Genesis 4:22. Nevertheless, this mixing of the bloodlines between the seeds of Seth and Cain was later on reflected in rebellion at the Tower of Babel; the evil sins of Sodom and Gomorrah; the sworn enmity among Ishmael and Isaac, Esau and Israel (here lies an explanation of the two different enemy-nations in the belly of Rebekah); and forceful Exiles of the Tribes of Israel to the lands of their enemies. Consequences of this ‘unholy’ union have been manifested in our ungodly, highly corrupted, unjust, and violently evil World. Thanks

    2. Never in the Bible Satan pictured as an enemy of God. He is simple messenger of God, as all Angels are. He has no own agenda, no free will, and no independence. Satan is in total control of God and never acts against his Creator. There is only one force which controls the world and responsible for good and evil, and this force is God. Thanks

  12. The question for me has been how did the Nephilim end up in Numbers after the flood?

Noah, his nakedness, and the curse of Canaan could answer this question.

I think that the Nephilim genes must have been transmitted through Noah’s second wife Naamah. Noah’s first wife of the line of Seth dies or was killed some time after giving birth to Noah’s three sons. In Hebrews 11 it says that “Noah in holy fear built the ark to save his family.” All of the righteous line of Seth has been wiped out and Noah and his family of seven are next. Noah marries Naamah for protection of himself and his sons and daughters.
Why would he take this risk? Noah must have been impotent and knew it. He has no problem bringing Naamah onto the ark because he cannot produce any offspring anymore. She will keep his family from being wiped out until the flood comes. It buys him time.
After the flood, Noah plants a vineyard. He wants to relax and enjoy the fruits of his labor. His family is safe and the line of Cain dies with Naamah. He celebrates, gets drunk and lets his guard down. His fertile wife Naamah sees her chance. Ham and Naamah hook up and Canaan is born. Noah is really , really upset because the blood line has been transferred! Canaan and is cursed. But Naaman is happy. She has a son from the line of Cain. Mission accomplished! Naamah leaves Noah and follows her ONLY son Canaan. She has a village or town named after her as mentioned in the book of Joshua. The Nephilim arise and are still here today. Google people with six fingers.

    1. GSW,

Thank you for your insights. The answer to your question is quite involved, but I will try to hit the high points. First of all, it is important to understand that a persons height is determined by many genes and alleles; possibly as many as 10,000 SNPS (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms). And, there are mutations that can cause gigantism. Therefore, if you take Noah’s three sons and three daughters-in-law, these genes, mutations, and SNPS would be mixed up resulting in much the same mixture we have now. However, if a group of tall people drew together, they would have produced some very tall offspring and be called giants. This is true today, I know one very tall clan.

Goliath was only about 6 ft 9 inches which is comparable to some of our basketball players. Og of Bashan in the Bible had a huge bed, possibly 9 to 13 feet long, but his height is not given.

Some very large people are misshapen and some are not. This depends on the mix of SNPS.

We still have much to learn about giants, but we do know that the Bible refers to giants before and after the flood. This is very much compatible with the genetic variation of three breeding pairs of humans. The situation with the Ham/Naamah union, causes one to wonder how that affected height of modern man.

Thank you for your interest in the creation and human chronicles,

      1. Some scholars picture Naamah as an upright and chaste woman; the others say that she was a source of all evil spirits in this World. There are speculations that Na’amah was the lover of Ham. She was with him in the ark during the time of the Flood and led him into adultery. It is obvious that her name was mentioned not only on account of her personal charms. Every word and especially the mention of her name in Scripture has its purpose and significance. While it is clear that Shem, Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, were spared because of the righteousness of their father and as direct descendants of his seed in the same manner as the daughters of Lot were saved at Sodom and Gomorrah; Na’amah, being from the family of Cain, and otherwise predestined to be destroyed by the Almighty, was saved from the Flood due to her husband Noah righteousness. Thanks

  13. I believe Canaan saw Noah naked, and performed a homosexual act on Noah. When he awoke and realized it, he was cursed. Ham saw the evidence, laughed and told his brothers and they covered up Noah. I believe that post flood corrupted seed was passed with the copulation of Ham and whomever Canaan’s mother was, and the generations that followed that bloodline.

  14. So, my study of the Bible is not at all what it could be but I hope you find my comments and questions interesting. Thanks in advance for your response. I look forward to hearing what you will have to say.

If taken as a whole, it appears the Nephilim were the product of the “Sons of God”, the fallen beings in the third order of angels, the Teraphim, closest to human form able to procreate with our species. Because man incorrectly thought this a good move for the human race, the decision was made to allow them to bed the daughters of man. Can I just say here, do you think this might be the root of why men feel inadequate in certain relationships with women who hold them accountable on issues they are not otherwise responsible for?(For a woman’s point of view, see comments on Sarah and Hagar below) It is my understanding that Noah was one of the few humans left if not the only human left with his family and the flood was necessary to cleanse the blood line of man. This brings about the question where did the giants after the flood come from?

I have no problem believing Ham slept with Noah’s second wife, the conclusion based on the context of the Hebrew text in Leviticus to me confirm’s it, cursing Canaan. There are some of us who understand what it is to inherit a spirit of shame, genocide survivors, etc but how come more folks don’t consider that there is an enemy afoot in all of this? What does it matter how God is perceived, all of us have come to know who God is differently. All that matters is that there is proof of this. When you know God your heart is changed, your life is changed, you love other people even if they don’t agree with how you think. What seems to be more important and directly to the point is that we start identifying the enemy as non human, non God, and non self as in immunity.

There is only one source of goodness and it is not people, it is God, the spirit that is absolute love even for our (human)enemies. Likewise there is only one source of evil and as much as we want to believe it, it is not man. Man can be an instrument of the good or of evil depending upon whose spirit it is we submit our will to but it is not the genealogy that matters, its the cross specie contamination in the human blood line that’s important to understand. Even to the extent that we consider there is a spiritual dynamic, another dimension to our biology, that science may not be aware of who among us would stand with a spirit whose only purpose is to hate, to murder, and to lie?

Whether we look back to Enoch, the Essenes, or current day followers of the Spirit of God, there are those spiritual beings who want nothing more than to destroy man, adulterate our souls will which includes the mind, the heart, and the spirit and oppose the Life God freely gave to all as this is the purpose this force exist to express.

What are your thoughts regarding Daniel the feet of iron mingled with clay and, the birth of Ishmael meaning, was it Abram’s responsibility to create peace between Sarah and Hagar? Is this not a perfect condition to an end time scenario where through free will all of us choose which spirit we will serve, God or man.

To conclude, it is not so much what happened or how it began but what is happening and how it will end. Like the tares and the wheat, the soul of man has been allowed to grow and to mature so when the time is right those beings who remained or in the ages, became restored as loyal to God, will separate us from that which is defiled man, restoring unity within men and women, the spiritual law of life which is One, in the minds, spirits, and hearts of people once again.

Adam, may very well have been a soul group made up of folks that were neither male nor female, but a union where the two are one, before the fall and only afterwards did they become male and female expression of life as its been said in some African cultures. Consider how far this notion is to the current state of man where artificial intelligence has been said to be a very real threat to our survival. Am I the only one that gets how much valor it takes to remain human in this time?

  15. Thanks for a fascinating study of Gods word and including opinions of every religious background. We are all saved by the same grace and God did so love the whole world. I am encouraged to study even more

  16. I don’t agree with the whole Noah having a wife from one of Cain’s decendents as in Tobit we know that Noah’s wife “was of his own kindred” Tobit 4:12 and Noah was from Seth’s lineage. I do agree that he slept with Noah’s wife and I believe this caused Noah not to have any more seed appointed to him. However it’s interesting that Noah “enlarged japheth” who is a son of God and we know that Hams decendents begat Giants so I think it’s possible tardiness of japheths decendents (sons of God) intermarried with some of Hams decendents (daughters of men) instead of marrying in their own line of family (like some cainites and some settings intermarried before the flood and created giants then) and bc generally that kind of perversion (what ham did) can run through and be taught in families (like pagan practices) I could see how that perversion spread even into Sodom and Gomorrah bc that’s exactly the area where the ” Canaanites border was ” among other places, mentioned in Genesis. And we know that place fell into such deep corruption and got destroyed later on. It’s also interesting that it’s generally understood that Egyptians are decendents of mizraim (not sure how accurate that is) and they worshipped “hybrid creatures ” and that before the flood and more than likely after it they “sinned against the birds and fishes” etc. And created what God called “monsters.” And that Roman “mythology” (even of Hercules story) and around the world you can find these creatures and giants today toted as “myth” I believe were actually real and existed at one time. And many of the ppl back then, worshipped them as “god’s” been also looking into some mud fossils and some of these things really do look like encased giants, bleeding and not sculpted. Also not sure whether to believe the latter but some of the evidence I’ve see is undeniable, so more research for me and maybe I’ll come to my final conclusion, but just thought I’d share what I’ve studied, came across and believe. 🙂 I’d also like to share possibly how sons of God and daughters of men even produced giants and I believe it has to do with God’s holy spirit bc well they lived a long time for one, possibly a good measure of it too. And I believe one of these giants “anamim” are later described as anakim or anak or in Sumerian Anunaki and I looked up the word anamim in Hebrew (bc God gives names that gives clues and meaning as well) and it said “affliction of the waters” and I know waters and living waters are symbolic of God’s holy spirit in the Bible. So IDK. Need more research.

      1. Sethites not settings geez lol I think u can get what I’m saying even with auto correct, and my children are causing me to make errors 🙂

  17. Thank you for this article. It is well thought out.

The one point that I disagree with is the assumption that all of mankind descended from Adam. Adam was simply the first covenant man of his people who were also called Adam (Awdawm). Genesis is simply the story of the people of Adam not of all humanity.

  18. “Saw his father’s nakedness” is not a term used today. What did it mean at the time of this writing? Leviticus spells out quite clearly that this phrase refers to the nudity of the female (whether the wife, the sister, the daughter, etc). From what I ha e read in Leviticus homosexual acts are referred to as ‘lying with a man as one would with a woman’, not ‘uncovering nakedness.’

  19. In the original Hebrew text (Genesis 9:22) “He was uncovered within his (her?) tent” the female form of “tent” is used in this verse. This implies an intimate moment of some type, as it does in the many other places it is used. It certainly doesn’t answer all the questions surrounding this event but it does clarify that this was about more than simply seeing someone unclothed.

  20. Also, there is another observation that Noah’s wife is mentioned after the sons on every occasion except the “be fruitful and multiply” clause after the flood. Other mentions of wives and sons in Scripture mentions the wife before the sons. Is she not the mother of those sons? This portion of the Bible has had me stumped for years.

  21. I completely disagree with you statement that Noah was classified as (Sons of God).Gen.6:2 says “And the sons of God saw the daughters of men and they were fair.” Sons of god is referring to the Nephilim (fallen ones) angels. the term sons of men refers to(Man that is born of a women.) These are to different entities. Noah was a just (man) in the sight of God. That is why scripture says gen.6:4 it states again about the sons of god and the daughters of men producing giants in the earth(mighty men ,men of renown.

    1. With all due respect, you have misread Genesis 6:4 which clearly states that the giants, Nephilim were on the Earth before and after the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were fair. Therefore, it was impossible that the Nephilim came from the sons of God uniting with the daughters of man. Read the parable of the wheat and tares; it clears things up.
Some versions use the word giants and some use Nephilim, but it doesn’t matter, they were already there before the marriages of the sons of God and the daughters of man.

Gen 6:4  There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

      Admin

      1. I disagree. Remove the parenthetical statement “and also after that”. It would than read, “There were giants in the earth in those days, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.” The Nephlim were a result of Adam’s line mixing with Cain’s line, you can see that when you remove the parenthetical statement. That line continued when Ham slept with Noah’s 2nd wife who is not his mother. Check every mention of giants and they all lead back to descendants of Canaan, except for the Egyptian of great stature who was a descendant of Mizraim translated Egypt in the Bible. Obviously one of Mizraim’s descendants married a Canaanite.

  22. A lot of modern conjecture, presumption, fabrication, fantasy posted here; while ignoring persons such as Josephus and Jasher and Moses and midrash. I agree what is the difference between presumption by living people today and those dead who lived 2000 years ago. BUT why ad to what THEY have already suggested. More perverts today than back then, and so more trashy conclusions.

The 2nd century midrash says, Ham walked into the tent of drunk Noah sleeping with erection and Canaan (the oldest of all Ham’s sons, but the only child of Ham at the time, and so YOUNGEST of all Noah’s sons) had tied a string on Noah’s hard penis. This goes along with Noahs death being Dec 25 in 2021bc and hanging on it is the Ba-Cush which means spirit of Cush or soul of Cush. It is not Ham /Cush that is drunk with erection,it is a mockery of Noah saying if he is an eternal green tree maybe he is also eternally drunk and erect. MOsesmakes it clear by the story that it is Noah not Nimrod. And the point of teh story is to explain why all nations attack and try to be themasters ofthis Canaan Middle East including Assyria Babylon, Persia Greeks Romans even while Israel claimed it was theirs.

  23. I believe the sons of God equates to the watchers taking human women and having intercourse or impregnating them creating the nephilim. One reason this flood took place was to wipe out these half man half angelic creatures so the DNA did not become corrupted. Had it become corrupted Jesus would never been born to save our sins.

  24. Noah was a Adam-Ham-African prophet who preached against intermarriage between Adamic lineage and the Luciferian lineage, and he did not marry. Show me where he married three wives that produced three racial groups Ham-African race, Shem-Jew/Israel-European racial group called Caucasian, and Japheth-Arab racial group. The people in the boat were selected according to racial group, and that gave them the courage to differentiate the Adamic-Ham-African from others and bullied Ham with the word “curse” in order to keep his generation under the Luciferian lineage because of the mistake that Adam made and lost his position to Lucifer the fallen angel. The word curse is the strong foundation of racism. People created false accusation of Ham seeing his father’s nakedness in order to isolate him and his generation from the aliens. I blame Africans whose mind has been buried in the religious grave and cannot know the truth.

    1. It is difficult to respond in that I believe the Bible and you obviously do not. I respect your beliefs but do not agree with them.

According to the Bible, Ham did not receive a curse, only Canaan did.

I am not a racist; I don’t even know what race is. I have never found a clear definition of race. The Bible never acknowledged that there are races; it only talks about nations. Since I am a Bible guy, I, too, do not acknowledge race, only nationality. If you have a clear definition of race, please let me know.

  25. This is one of those “secret things of God” we will never know for sure on this side of heaven. These Biblical mysteries, like what really happened in Noah’s tent and the verse written by the Apostle Paul about “head coverings” are what I call the “nailing jello to a wall” verses. They are impossible to solve. Only God knows exactly what happened and exactly what Paul meant in the “head coverings” verse (and there are a few others like that in the Bible such as who Cain’s wife really was, which I suspect was a “beast of the field” or what’s known today as a “Sasquatch” and explains why Esau was covered in red hair).

  26. I want to say that you are 100% correct and it is not a theory but truth. The Holy Spirit revealed it to me that Ham slept with his fathers wife. I later found your post and it was more like a confirmation. The best way to prove it right is to apply it to Reuben sleeping with Bilhah. Translate the meanings of their names and the location it took place and you will see. “BEHOLD THE VISION OF A SON FROM THE WATCHTOWER OF THE FLOCK.” The first was a illegitimate son (mamzer) being Canaan, born the result of a counterfeit spirit. The latter being the Son of God born through the Holy Spirit. Keep doing what you are doing as you are awoke. God bless you and remember many are called only a few are chosen.

  27. Nammah is NOT the mother of Noah’s sons. It NEVER says she is, only Noah’s wife. The mother of S, J, and H most likely died before the flood and Noah took a second wife. Lev 18:7 says: “The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.” The “nakedness of the father” is referring to a second wife or concubine, not his nakedness. Men were lower more than 1 wife. Reuben saw the nakedness of his father when he had relations with his father’s concubine, a secondary wife. You can see there is a law against seeing the nakedness of your biological mother contrasted with a non-biological mother who happens to be the father’s second wife referred to as the “nakedness of your father”, his property . There is no way Yeshua would have had any corrupted DNA from Cain’s line. Cain took a woman who was not of Adam and Eve’s bloodline AFTER he left his parent. Adam was not Cain’s father, the serpent was.

  28. I disagree with you when you said “we all have canaanite genes” i dont believe we all have canaanite genes…but yes we are all sinners…that has never been anything new.

  29. I am inclined to think that Naamah, coming from the wicked line of Cain, must have influenced Ham to have sex with her. Even though scripture doesn’t tell us the character of Naamah, scripture does tell us the character of Cain. And Naamah, being from the lineage of Cain, would be more corrupted in her thoughts and actions, having been an in the line of the first murderer. Also I am inclined to think that Naamah was Noah’s second wife and possibly, her only son with Noah was Ham, and not Shem or Japeth..That is perhaps why Naamah was agreeable to having sex with her son being that again, coming from Cain’s line, she was inclined towards evil and taught her son Ham to do the same. That is why it was easier for Noah to curse ham’s offspring and not one of his other children.

  30. I need to correct myself. Since Ham was listed in the lineage of Noah, then Ham was of his line. However, I still feel that Naamah, Noah’s second wife, must have influenced Ham to do what he did. It is another way Satan tried to corrupt God’s recognized lineage thru Noah.

  31. It’s my understanding that the sons of God are angels. The sons of men are men. Angels had sex with women creating genetic mutants. Which destroyed God’s creation, man.

  32. Your article may indeed be the case that Canaan was the product of an incestious relationship between mother and her son (Ham) while Noah was drunken and semi asleep.

I have another idea…. since only Noah’s grandsons are mentioned in the Torah and not Noah’s granddaughters we need to assume that Noah’s 3 sons had daughters also, otherwise we all wouldn’t exist today.

So what if Ham indeed played a dirty trick on his father Noah by sending one of his daughters (Ham’s daughter) into Noah’s tent while Noah was drunk and she seduced and had sex with her grandad in the same manner Lot’s daughters slept with their father.

Then Ham went out to his 2 brothers to tell them what he had done, so they brought their father out covering his own nakedness and later when he woke up Noah found out the dirty trick his son had played on him by sending one of his daughters to get impregnated by Noah and thus causing Noah to sin, the resulting product of this forbidden sexual union was the bastard Canaan.

This would make Noah to be Canaan’s father
and it would make Ham Canaan’s grandfather (the son of Ham’s daughter).

    1. Erik,
That is an interesting idea and possible. However, it appears that if that were the case, Noah wouldn’t have been so upset. Noah was an offspring of Seth and Noah’s wife was, in my opinion, the offspring of Cain. If Noah’s wife conceived Canaan, the balance of evil would shift to the evil side.

We thank you for your idea, and it may be right. Some day in heaven we can get together and have a cup of coffee; maybe neither of us is right, but we believe the scriptures and that is what is important.

      James

      1. If Noah was so afraid of the Kain lineage genes he would have taken a Seth line wife from his own tribe and abolished the Kain line once and for all.

I believe the story was about Torah morals, not genetics.

  33. James,

If Noah was so afraid of the Kain lineage genes he would have taken a Seth line wife from his own tribe and abolished the Kain line once and for all.

I believe the story was about Torah morals, not genetics.

    1. Erik,

Not genetics, but epigenetics. God said the sons of God saw the daughters of men were fair and took them for wives. I think Noah was one of those sons of God. Noah made a mistake. It is just my opinion. This website is purposed at looking at things from a genetic/epigenetic perspective, and that is what we do.

      James

      1. Ok, you convinced me, Noah was one of the Sons of God (Sethites) who took a wife from the Cain tribe. That would make all of us of mixed race but the Canaanites a bit more towards the Cain race than the rest of humanity.

Now if only you could tell us who are their descendants today, the Sub-Saharans maybe ?

  34. Ok, you convinced me, Noah was one of the Sons of God (Sethites) who took a wife from the Cain tribe. That would make all of us of mixed race but the Canaanites a bit more towards the Cain race than the rest of humanity.

    1. Erik,

The Bible does not talk about races; it talks about languages, nations, and clans. We are also interested in who the Canaanites are from a genetic standpoint, but we have uncovered some mysteries. The big mystery is that at least two Canaanite languages are considered Semitic (Hebrew and Phoenician). We are missing something, or something is in error. Perhaps this is God’s doing in that we are now living in New Testament times, and we know from the parables that God is calling everyone to salvation (Parable of the Wedding Feast).

We, at Genesis and Genetics, stopped pursuing this issue because we think it better not to. Now we are working on Nimrod who is from Ham.

      1. The true Canaanites migrated or were forced out of Canaan long before the Israelites came into Canaan, and Shemites and Japethites settled in their places as per Noah’s curse, yet these new arrivals of other races (New Canaanites) continued the culture and practices of the previous true Canaanite inhabitants and were thus doomed just as well when the Israelites came in.
The new Canaanites composed of Shemites and Japethites took on the culture of the previous occupants in a similar fashion the Hyksos took on the Egyptian culture and became pharoes of Egypt.

One needs to trace the migration pattern of the original Canaanites who were replaced in their land, to where did those original Canaanites go to ?
They would be a separate racial group than other races.

  35. Ok so Ham is Noah’s youngest son. Noah gets drunk, and passes out naked. Ham comes in and is disgusted by seeing his father naked. As punishment, Ham mutilates Noah. Ham then tells his brothers what He did. {This explains why (a) Noah knows what’s happened when he awakes and (b) why Noah has no more children despite Gods command.} Shem and Japheth walk backwards as to not see and cover their father to spare him embarrassment.

Noah awakes and curses Hams youngest child, which is actually not yet born. The author of the story knows the name of Canaan at the time he writes the story so he is able to add the name. But because Ham is Noah’s youngest, Noah curses Ham’s youngest. Hence the name, Canaan.

    1. Reading the Bible in the book of Joshua, one can see that the Canaanites and the Israelites became one. They shared everything, including gods. Then when the Assyrians conquered Israel, the Israelite/Canaanites assimilated with the Assyrians. Later the Babylonians conquered Assyria and drove the Israelites to Europe, Eastern Asia, the Holy Land, and Northern Africa. The Israelite/Canaanites the came from Assyria were called Samaritans, as in the good Samaritan. When the Babylonians conquered Judah, the Israelite/Canaanites joined with the Babylonian society. Then when Cyrus the Great conquered Babylon, the Israelite/Canaanites were dispersed throughout the ancient world, including the far East. Most of the world population today have ancestors from the Israel/Canaanite DNA. It is just like the parable of the wheat and the tares.

  36. Some older Midrashic material that made its way into the medieval forgery, the Book of Jasher, suggests another sinister reason for the curse. Ham saw his father’s nakedness because he had stolen a sacred garment (said to be the God-given skin that Adam wore) off of Noah’s drunken body, leaving Noah lying naked on the floor of his tent. But some of the materials remaining even in our Bibles suggest that Canaan may have been the original name of Ham, or that Ham was an alternate name.

Moffatt’s Bible translation sets the words “Ham was the father of Canaan” and “Ham the father of” in double brackets. As Moffatt himself puts it, “The only other mark which requoted a word of explanation is the double square brackets ([[ ]]). This denotes, throughout the entire Old Testament, passages which are either editorial additions or later interpolations.” The notes in the Study edition of the New Jerusalem Bible also suggests similarly that the older version of the story has the third son of Noah named Canaan.

If we remove the double-bracketed material, Canaan then becomes the name of the younger son of Noah. And if that is the case, then the Canaan of Canaanite ancestry would be Canaan the son of Canaan in the older version of the story.

  37. Thank you for your interesting theory and your fearlessness in questioning the lies we have been taught. Through misinterpretations and deliberate alterations, it is hard to know the Truth. Nothing is hidden or forgotten. You are much closer to the truth than all these conditioned minds that dare not dig deeper or question the obvious mysteries.

  38. While I believe that Naamah is most likely Noah’s wife and that the HamxNaamah sex is the most likely interpretation of the incident, I stumbled across a problem:

    https://www.icr.org/i/articles/af/dna_trends_confirm_wide.jpg
Those are data sets of mitochondrial DNA; mtDNA is inherited only from mothers. So if Canaan were the offspring of Ham with his mother (not with his wife), with Ham’s three other sons offspring of Ham’s wife, then there should be another node (there are only three; the one on the lower right does not count) for Canaan. There are claims that the world’s most populous ethnic group—the Chinese, particularly Han (Ham?) Chinese—stem from Canaan through the Sinites and Hittites.

  39. Ham slept with Naamah from CAINS BLOODLINE ,his stepmother and the offspring was Cannan whom started the giants after the flood

  40. I did a researched about the Adam’s Family Tree.
    1. Adam’s first born son is Cain (Gen.4:1)
    2. Abel, the second born son (Gen. 4:2)
    3. Awan, a daughter was born (Book of Jubilees 4:1)
    4. Seth, the third born son (Gen.4:25)
    5. Azura, a second daughter was born (Book of Jubilees 4:8)
    6. Adam and Eve, had born 9 sons (Book of Jubilees 4:10),and daughters after (Gen.5:4)

Cain married Awan( his sister), born a son named Enoch (Jubilees 4:9)
Seth married Azura (his sister), born a son Enos
Enos married Noam (his sister) born a son Kenan (Cainan) (Jub. 4:13)
Kenan married Mualeleth (his sister) born a son Mahalel (Jub. 4:14)
Mahalel married Dinah (his cousin) born a son Jared (Jub.4:15)
Jared married Baraka (his cousin), born a son Enoch (Jub. 4:16)
Enoch married Edna (his cousin), born a son Methuselah (Jub.4:20)
Methuselah married his cousin Edna, born a son Lamech (Jub.4:27)
Lamech married his cousin Betenos, born a son Noah (Jub.4:28)
Noah married his cousin Emzara, born three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth (Jub.4:33)
    Shem married to Sedeqetelebab
    Ham married to Ne’elatamauk
    Japheth married to Adataneses

  41. According to the Book of Jasher, Noah married Naamah, daughter of Enoch (Jasher 5:15). The family tree of Cain (expelled from the Garden) serves as a type of “antiChrist” to family tree of Seth s. In Jasher 2:16-17 we see that Cainan, Seth’s 2xgson, bore two daughters, Adah & Zillah. This line of Seth’s, married Lamech, son of Methusael, 4xgson of Cain. Lamech bore a daughter with Zillah named Naamah. BUT, we read back in Jasher 3:13 that Enoch bore a daughter named Naamah as well. Enoch’s daughter, Naamah, is who married Noah (she was is 2xg aunt). Contrary to what others have suggested, Naamah bore to Noah his 3 sons. We will only know what happened in that tent if God chose to disclose it to us. It was most likely a humiliation as suggested.

This “cross breeding” of Lamech (Cain’s line) and Adah & Zillah (Seth’s line) was only the beginning of the irrevocable mix of DNA (mystery of the blood). God was the only one who could cleanse the line to the Messiah. Of course, Jasher is not scripture, but it has been used by Scripture writers and historian for centuries.

  42. If Naamah is Noah’s wife how would he know Canaan was Hams child and not his? We must assume Noah still slept with his wife?

    1. Noah had been sleeping with his wife for 100 years without a pregnancy, so he didn’t think the baby was his. Also, Noah was close to God, and it makes sense that they would share information. Sharing information is what we call prayer.
Thank you for your interest in the things of God.

  43. The “sons of God,” were fallen angels. Noah is a son of man. Not a god. But I do find the theory of Ham sleeping with his mother very interesting and plausible.

  44. GNOSIS- According to the Rabbah, Namah was Noah’s 2nd wife. Very Important. She is not a Shemite but a cursed Cainaanite. Caanan, the grandchild is cursed because he is the off spring of Naamah’s incestuous relationship with her son Ham, also a Canaanite. The veiled term “walking backwards to not behold their fathers nakedness” done by the “brothers” Shem and Japeth refer to what is termed in Deuteronomy 27:20
Cursed is he who sleeps with his father’s wife, for he has violated his father’s marriage bed.
What this site lacks in Knowledge/Gnosis is why did Noah marry a Canaanite? I will not tell you, leaving you an AG-GNOSIS.

  45. You aren’t kidding are you? There was 1565+ years from creation to the flood. Given Cain may have been, let’s say 100 years old when he fathered Naamah, then Naamah would have been more than 1400 years old. The flood was the judgement on the Adamic race, and All that were pure were Noah and his family, otherwise the flood was pointless. The flood was localized, only Adamites, descendants of Cain and the seed line of the family tree of the knowledge of good and evil survived the flood in other parts of the earth. Answer this, how did Noah get kangaroos on the ark? If there were kangaroos on the ark, why are they now only in Australia?
If the blood line of Noah was corrupted with the seed of the serpent the Christ was corrupted by the same seed and there is no redemption, period end of story.

    1. Point 1 Cain did not father Naamah. She was six generation later.
Point 2 Animals were appointed territories by God. After the flood the kangaroos migrated to Australia. That is land they were appointed. Just after the flood, there were land bridges everywhere.
